Rúben Amorim: “We Have Bigger Things to Think About”

Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim has dismissed the idea that claiming the Europa League is the club’s main objective for the campaign. While it’s seen by some as Sporting’s best hope of silverware and a route into the UEFA Champions League (UCL), Amorim feels there are bigger things to think about.

“Fans are seeing the Europa League as the special competition that we can conquer, also the tie with qualification for the UCL,” Amorim added. But he quickly shifted his attention, commenting, “But to be honest, I think we have BIGGER things to think.”

His words suggest Sporting’s ambitions go beyond one European trophy. Instead, Amorim wants to build something more long-term and sustainable. “I know it’s strange to say that, but it’s something that we are trying to build here, that is going to be more important than winning a Cup in this moment,” he said.

Amorim’s approach suggests a plan for long-term success rather than short-term glory. Although the Europa League remains a huge chance, the Sporting chief desires to create a side that can challenge regularly at elite level.

With Sporting CP making progress, Amorim’s vision will be tested. But his belief in a bigger picture may be the key to long-term success.
