Hamas makes official that the senior leader has been assassinated; how was he targeted and who is responsible?

Hamas has officially confirmed that an Israeli airstrike has killed Muhammad Ibrahim Shahin, also known as Abu al-Baraa; he died in Sidon, southern Lebanon. The attack took place Monday when the Israelis targeted a vehicle, he was traveling in using drones. According to Hamas, Shahin held senior jihadist positions within the organization.

His death comes at a time when, despite a recent ceasefire, tensions are on the increase between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel continues to patrol all five of its strategic positions on the Lebanese border, while Lebanon has admonished Israel to stick to the terms of its ceasefire.

Reports are coming up that Israel has killed Yahya Sinwar, a senior Hamas leader, though there has been no confirmation yet from Hamas. The situation in the region continues to be unstable with repeated attacks on innocent civilians caught in between.
