A furious conflict has broken surfaced within the interim administration of SSC-Khaatumo largely due to issues in dealing with the formation of a constitutional committee for SSC-Khaatumo. Parliament members have accused the Speaker of Parliament of breaching parliamentary procedures and blocking the proposal to form a constitutional committee.
The parliamentarians have accused the speaker of rendering an unacceptable infringement of the Constitution of SSC-Khaatumo, one of which specifically states that key issues on the future of the new administration are to be attended to. They avowed that an amendment motion to grant initial approval to the constitutional committee was already presented, yet the speaker disbanded the sitting and blocked its approvals and proposed crucial other bills.
Jamac Yaasiin Warsame denied the accusations, stating that the recommendation from parliament would be forwarded to the proper authority for legal action. No draft act, including the draft act of the constitutional committee, which is inconsistent with the umbrella SSC-Khaatumo charter, will find a way to them until they provide comments on its legality.
This conflict erupts as SSC-Khaatumo’s chairman made the announcement late last year that it was about time SSC moved from the interim status and availed a proper constitutional committee: the committee that will enforce a framework of management where it will put in place its constitution, possibly by mid-2025.
