Arne Slot on Mohamed Salah’s Contract: “The Better He Does, the More Expensive He Becomes”

Feyenoord’s coach Arne Slot recently made a light-hearted remark on the endless negotiations of Egyptian Salah with Liverpool. Referring to Salah’s impressive streak, Slot said: “If Mo does really well, the more expensive he becomes”, this conveys the fact that whenever Salah performs masterfully on the pitch, negotiations just get tougher because his worth keeps going up.

He went on to add: “If he didn’t play so well, perhaps we would have second thoughts about whether we want him to extend.” Clearly, Salah’s continued excellence is significant for Liverpool, and his making huge monetary demands may play a role in deciding his future with the club.

Salah’s astronomical market value has become a challenge, but Slot paid tribute to the forward’s commitment to Liverpool in saying: “Hopefully, he will continue.” His performance on the pitch has been nothing short of extraordinary; if he were to leave, it would be a blow for the club.

Slot’s comments reflect the importance of Salah not just as a football player but also as Liverpool’s market value. Both short- and long-term security of Salah will have to be considered during the contract talks and his currency will have risen substantially.

As his performances have made him one of the most sought-after players in world football, Salah’s future at Anfield will likely remain a hot topic for the next couple of months. For any hope of keeping one of the brightest talents in the club’s history around, Liverpool needs to get this deal over the line.
