Hezbollah is funded from Lebanon and abroad, predominantly by Iran, as well as financially and militarily supported. In essence, financing includes drug smuggling and other businesses, including tax-generating items.
The principal financier of Hezbollah is Mohammad Jafar Qasir, or Shaykh Salih, known for providing support for smuggling and other illegal commercial activities that benefit the group. Other means of financing also include grants from different organizations and individuals.
This goes with some greater caution, of course, for prior attempts to suppress fundraising from exportation generally or lawful commercial avenues specifically have not entirely stifled Hezbollah’s financial support. Israel has bombed places firmly linked to Hezbollah, arguing that they are no more than fronts for the organization. International counter-terrorist financing law has precluded Hezbollah from accessing fresh funds, but the organizational structure and backing received from its ever-loyal constituency keep it running and operational.
