Missing Politician Surfaces Mysteriously in Nairobi

Kenyan politician Yusuf Hussein Ahmed, a member of Dela County Assembly in Wajir County, has mysteriously returned home in Nairobi six months since he disappeared. According to sources, masked men appeared and dropped him at his doorstep last night, without any clue on where they had held him or why he was abducted.

Ahmed was kidnapped on September 13 last year while he was traveling in an Uber along Enterprise Road in Nairobi. Despite vigorous efforts by his family and local leaders to locate him, there had been no indication of his whereabouts until now.

Adam Keynan Wehliye, a Wajir County Assembly member, confirmed the dramatic return of the abducted politician, stating that masked men left Ahmed at his residence around 9:30 PM.

“Human rights organizations and other bodies complained about his disappearance. We have now taken him for medical examination, and we will then deal with the circumstances of his abduction,” Wehliye stated.

Physicians who have seen Ahmed report that he is in stable condition, though fatigue and malnutrition symptoms are visible.

His relatives never lost hope that he would be found alive. They were convinced that he was not involved in any wrongdoing and hoped against hope that he would come back.

Meanwhile, another elderly man, Omar Mohamed Nur, alias Omar Duwac, who disappeared over a year ago, was also found and brought to Isiolo. It is not yet known whether his disappearance was linked to Ahmed’s, but both men are from Ceel-Dhaas.

Until now, no organization has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Ahmed, and the authorities have not provided any major updates on the case. His family accuses the government of not making sufficient efforts to find him.

When Ahmed was abducted, sources indicated that two unmarked Land Cruiser Prados blocked his Uber before he was taken. His driver later informed his family about it, the sole lead they had.

“The driver did us a big favor by informing us. Otherwise, we would have never known what happened,” said Ahmed’s sister, Halima Hussein.

The incident has led to serious allegations of enforced disappearances in Kenya, particularly in the North Eastern province. There are questions as to who abducted Ahmed, why, and how he was released without cause. Investigations are ongoing, but to date, the case remains unsolved.
